Speculation about Sonam Kapoor being upset about the spotlight being on co-star Shahid Kapoor in dad Pankaj Kapur’s Mausam is rife. She’s not only peeved about having fewer scenes, but also about the director’s leisurely way of shooting.
The actor had allotted 140 days to the film, but Shahid’s sudden trip to South Africa for a concert, added to all the other reasons for the delay and has thrown her schedule for Anees Bazmee’s Thank You off track.
In a bid to mollify her and sort out the issue, her dad, Anil Kapoor, has reportedly requested a meeting with Pankaj at producer Sheetal Jain’s house.
A miffed Shahid points out that the two dads have known each other for almost 25 years since their first film Chameli Ki Shaadi in ’86. “They don’t need to meet at Sheetal Jain’s house to discuss non-issues over dinner, when they know that the other is just a call away,” he retorts, adding that three-quarters of Mausam has been completed. “We have shot for 85 days and Sonam’s been around most of the time. We have another 40 days to go, before we wrap up and there’s still plenty of her to come. It is an epic love story and is as much about the girl, as is it about the boy.”
Reacting to rumours that the film has gone over-budget, Shahid says, “I would personally strangle Sheetal Jain if the film went over-budget. It’s as much our film as it is his. Dad at the age of 56 has given two years of his life to Mausam. I have been sitting at home for a year so I can work on my different looks and shoot when the seasons are right since the film revolves around the four seasons in a person’s life.”

{{/usCountry}}According to him, if there was an unanticipated hitch, it was when Sonam took to bed with typhoid. “But that’s something that could have happened to anyone and she has been extremely accommodating since she has been back on her feet. The film is well on course,” Shahid insists. “And all’s well with my dad and Sonam’s too. In fact, when dad first spoke to Anilji about wanting Sonam in his film, without even listening to the script he gave his approval. He said that it would be great for her to do a film whose expansive time frame gave her an opportunity to showcase her talent, and work closely with a respected actor like my dad. I don’t think he’s changed his mind.”
