Actor Shahid Kapur's mother Neelima Azeem is making a film without her son being a part of it. The film, Nawab Nautanki, goes on the floor in January with Chandan Roy and Bhavna Pani in the lead.

Roy played Mikhail in Shahid starrer Kaminey, while Bhavna is rumoured to be Shahid’s ex-girlfriend. “I didn’t even think of casting Shahid. He is at the peak of stardom. I’m making a small budget film. He won’t do this kind of a film. I don’t think he will be upset that I haven’t cast him," Azeem told HT City.

Asked why she chose her son’s Kaminey co-star to play the lead, she said, “Chandan has that mercurial, out-of-the-ordinary quality about him. He has a certain madness that my film’s protagonist needed.”

About the lead actress, she said, “I’ve known Bhavna for a long time. She used to learn dance from me. She and Shahid went to the same college, they were very good friends. It is a very wicked thing to say that she is his ex-girlfriend. She is very upset about it.”

Nawab Nautankti is about a group of villagers and how a young boy connected with showbiz gets them rolling in life. Neelima also plays a key role in the film
