According to British superstition, rain on one's wedding day is supposed to bring good luck. Getting soaked as a couple ties the knot means they would have many children and the bride will cry many tears of happiness, the Daily Express reported.

While some say if the couple catch a glimpse of a rainbow their marriage will be blessed with good luck, others say Friday is traditionally a bad luck day for a wedding.

A cloudy, wet day has been forecast across the country with wind making it cooler.

Met office forecaster Tom Morgan said: "There's certainly the chance of rain in London, with most of the nation getting showers at some point."

"Temperatures are going to be much lower. A brisk north-easterly wind will make it feel much chillier than of late. But it is still too early to say for sure."

If it actually rains, the royal couple will leave the wedding venue, Westminster Abbey, in the Glass Coach, instead of the open-top 1902 State Landau.
