Social entrepreneurs at city conference
Over the next three days, The Hub Bombay, in partnership with Sankalp 2010, will organise a Social Enterprise Speaker Series.
Over the next three days, The Hub Bombay, in partnership with Sankalp 2010, will organise a Social Enterprise Speaker Series. This series will showcase inspiring stories from Sankalp 2010 finalists besides highlighting key learning from successful social enterprise models across India. It will also provide Mumbaikars with a unique opportunity to connect with social entrepreneurs and change makers. Each talk will be followed by an interactive discussion with the audience to foster mutual learning and inspiration.

Meeting of minds
Among the key speakers featured at the event are Inir Pinheiro who founded Grassroutes, an enterprise that aims to improve income generation capacities of rural areas by developing villages as tourist destinations, and Madhusudan Agrawal, co-founder of MAM Movies, an organsiation engaging youth for social change. Other speakers will talk on several issues ranging from clean energy sources, book publishing for the rural poor and providing quality herbal products to the poor among others.
The Sankalp 2010 Awards and Investment Forum is an annual initiative committed to catalysing entrepreneurship in the social enterprise space. It facilitates collaboration between established and budding entrepreneurs, investors, thought leaders and sector stakeholders interested in contributing to society.
The Hub Bombay is a collaborative space for people with ideas and passion for social change to connect, learn and grow. They provide workstations, meeting facilities, events that equip members with skills and connect individuals with peers, experts and mentors from diverse sectors.

9 am - 12 pm: Saloni Malhotra of Desicrew Solutions Pvt Ltd who has been nominated for BusinessWeek’s Asia’s Youngest Entrepreneurs and MTV Youth Icon 2008.

5 pm - 8 pm: Mayank Sekhsaria of GreenLight Planet, a clean-tech social enterprise manufacturing and selling ultra-affordable solar lanterns for the 1.6 billion
people who still don’t have electricity.

1 pm - 4 pm: Supriya Bhalerao of BooksLine, an organisation that publishes local language books and magazines for the rural poor of Andhra Pradesh.
5 pm - 8 pm: Madhusudan Agrawal of MAM Movies, an organisation engaging youth in creating media for social change.
Monday (May 3)
9 am - 12 pm: Venugopal Suvarna of Vishal Organnix. They provide quality herbal products at a reasonable price to the common masses. Or Mayukh Choudhury - D.light Design, a distribution channel to take clean energy products to the masses.
1 pm - 4 pm: Karon Shaiva of Empaower, a social enterprise that promotes sustainable marketplaces for a better tomorrow. Or Valli Krishnan of eFarm, an initiative of Matchbox Solutions which has created a farm-to-home supply chain platform for procuring and delivering farm-based produce in a transparent, economical and efficient manner.
5 pm - 8 pm: Dhiraj Dolwani of B2R Technologies Pvt Ltd, that works towards making a high social impact by generating employment in rural India. Or Sunil Uplap of Tanclean, an enterprise that puts systems in place to provide clean and safe water sources and storage.
