Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who was in the Capital recently, cleared the air about the ongoing rumours of being in a relationship with actor Sonal Chauhan, his co-star in the upcoming flick 3G.
“Initially when the rumor started off, it was interesting. We said that if people are speculating about the on-screen couple, if they are writing about the film, it’s good publicity. But when it went out of hands we went to clarify and that clarification was misunderstood. I was asked if we are friends and I said of course we are. But as far as the marriage and dating is concerned, it was blown out of proportion,” said the 31-year-old.
When asked about his views on the 100-crore club, a new trend in the industry, the actor said, “I think it is a very interesting club. I wish that someday even I am a part of it but that doesn’t mean that I’ll compromise on the quality of films that I do. I don’t think many films which are in this club are deserving of the 100 crores that they have made. There are about three to four films like Barfi!, Kahaani and English Vinglish that I feel deserve to be a part of this club.”
On being asked about his favourite on-screen character, Neil shared, “I think it’s unfair to ask an actor that which is the only role that you like because you put in so much of passion in doing every film. My films which have not fared well on the box office like David, 7 Khoon Maaf and Jail are the closest to my heart actually.” About his upcoming movie, the actor said, “3G is about a guy called Sam. He lands up in Fiji and loses his mobile phone. He buys himself a second hand 3G-enabled phone, and he starts receiving these weird MMSes. The story then progresses.”
