He may have written one of the most successful horror films in Hollywood but multiple Oscar-winning film-maker Steven Spielberg 'spooked out' at his home while watching a low-budget horror flick recently.
The 62-year-old director who wrote the widely-acclaimed 1982 horror film Poltergeist was watching a DVD of Paranormal Activity at his California mansion when a bedroom door suddenly locked from the inside, Daily Express reported. "The incident really spooked Steven and he didn't want the film anywhere near his home," a source said.
Spielberg whose career spans more than four decades was so freaked out by the incident that when he returned to his office he carried the DVD of the film in a rubbish bag and refused to allow it back in the house. "Steven doesn't get scared easily but told everyone what had happened at his home. Everyone hears bumps in the night and strange noises in their home. He knew this film tapped into that. He became convinced that the film would be a huge hit," the source added.
Paranormal Activity is written and directed by Oren Peli and focuses on a young couple, Katie and Micah, who are haunted by a supernatural presence in their lives and with a documentary style it is said to have taken a cue from 1999 horror film The Blair Witch Project.
