Hollywood diva Uma Thurman may be known for her carefree and distinct style of dressing, but the 42-year-old mother-of-three says she is at her comfortable best in the Indian salwar kameez. “I like wearing them at times when I’m at home,” she says, adding, “When I come to India, I’m going to shop for

for sure.”
However, the actor who had a Buddhist upbringing in Uttarakhand, is heartbroken that she won’t be able to visit India anytime soon. She wanted to promote her new film Playing For Keeps here, but the plan had to be dropped because of date issues. “I’m really attached to India and after we were done shooting for Playing For Keeps, I was told that we might go to India to promote the film.
But unfortunately the plan got cancelled and it was a heartbreak for me. I have faint memories of the country and was looking forward to refresh them,” says the actor, who spent time in Almora, Uttarakhand with her siblings while growing up. Not many know that her full name is Uma Karuna Thurman and she has her own share of memories from the country, thanks to her father, who is a Sanskrit scholar. “One memory of India that I will never forget is that of the tiger we saw at the (Jim) Corbett (National) Park. He was huge,” she says.
Meanwhile, she is excited to have starred alongside Gerard Butler, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jessica Biel and Dennis Quaid in Playing for Keeps, which hits Indian screens this week. “Working with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jessica Biel, Gerard Butler... to be put with a cast as amazing as this, it was a great experience,” she says.
