Last week, two non-bailable warrants were issued against actor Viveik Oberoi and his actor-father Suresh Oberoi, respectively, in a dishonoured cheque case. The court issued the warrants against them for not appearing in court in a case filed by financier, Jawaharlal Agicha. Although the Oberois have got a stay order from the High Court, Viveik is livid about the matter. “There is a limit to my tolerance. People should know where to stop. If anyone tries to harm my family name or extort money, we can’t simply sit and take it. People have to understand that there’s a limit to everything,” says Viveik, who is currently shooting for his upcoming film, Zila Ghaziabad, in Wai.

Agicha had non-bailable warrants issued against Viveik and his father, after they sent him a cheque worth over Rs. 3 crore that apparently bounced. Now, after getting a stay order, the actor has decided to file an Rs 25 crore suit for defamation and extortion against Agicha. Agicha had claimed that Oberoi Multimedia Limited had issued a few cheques in his name that have now been returned. That is the reason he filed a complaint against Viveik and his father. But the Oberois’ lawyer claims, “My clients are in no way concerned with the aforementioned company.” According to the Shootout At Lokhandwala actor, celebrities have become soft targets for such blame games. “Silence is strength, but I think it’s often misunderstood. It’s disgusting how celebs are considered soft targets,” Viveik says, adding that the issue “has been disturbing” for all his family members.

Meanwhile, father Oberoi has already stated that he has met Agicha only on four occasions. The veteran actor stated that he never thought the case would become this big, “that too for us who are hardly connected (to it)”. In fact, he warned Agicha saying he had tried peaceful means, but it shouldn’t be mistaken for weakness.
