It has been a week since the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games and yet, many volunteers who’ve appeared for their volunteer training program haven’t received accreditation. An accreditation from the CWG organisers is necessary for anyone wanting to enter any of the CWG venues.
“The games are on and I have still not received my accreditation. The reason they are giving is that they have not received police verification as yet and this has caused a delay,” says a student who refused to be named. An absence of police verification is the major reason that is being given to the students, for not being given accreditation.
Deepak Kumar, a student of Deshbandhu College, who had also applied for the volunteer programme, said, "The reason I was given was that they don’t have my police verification. I was called to the venue in Nehru Place, since I assigned to city operations, and was told about my duties, along with eight other guys. But then I told them that I still didn’t have my accreditation. I went for the training for the volunteers as well, and was also given a unique number. After all this I did not get in. Now what’s the use of waiting?"
Anil Kumar, student of G.G.S. Indraprastha University, says, “I had done the general volunteer training program and I was given a unique ID. My police verification was also done, but I still did not get my accreditation. I called them daily till the 28th of September and they would just say that my name had been finalised and that they would get back to me. But till date no one has called up and I have not got my accreditation.”

{{/usCountry}}However, officials deny that large numbers of volunteer applicants have not received accreditations. An official from the volunteer program section said on condition of anonymity, “It is not true that a lot of volunteers didn’t get the accreditation. There are a few who didn’t because they didn’t pass the security association check and since national security is the top priority during the games, we didn’t want to take chances”
