Today is Friday the 13th, a date whose ominous reputation keeps many people from starting new projects. But with the Emraan Hashmi-Soha Ali Khan-starrer Tum Mile hitting theatres today, are the makers suffering from ‘paraskevidekatriaphobia’ — the fear of Friday the 13th?
“Friday the 13th is considered unlucky in Hollywood pop culture, not in Hindu mythology. For me, every day is a new and beautiful day. I have no problem in releasing my film today,” says Kunal Deshmukh, the film’s director. Actress Soha says, “I’m not superstitious or presumptuous enough to say whether the date is lucky or unlucky, but I have a good feeling about this 13th.”
Interestingly, the first Metro line between Delhi and Noida, which was flagged off by CM Sheila Dikshit yesterday, also begins its first run today. While some commuters are a bit wary, most Noida residents can’t curb their excitement. “I’m too excited to wait even for a day,” says Manish Mehra, a student who commutes to South Campus daily.
Says astrologer Prem Kumar Sharma, “Number 13 adds up to 4. Numerologically, November is equal to 2 and 2009 is also equal 2. The total of this becomes 8, and this is the month of the Scorpio which also the 8th sign. This means that some big tragedy might take place within 40 days in some country.” But another astrologer believes the day will bring good luck. “This Friday will be auspicious for romantic movie releases, since Venus plays a major role in romance.”
