Anushka Ranjan might be new to films, but she’s certainly not new to fashion. As she shows off her chic wardrobe in her Versova apartment, she rattles off some of the coolest high street brands. Oh, and she tells us about her ‘size-changing diamond ring’.

Style sensibility: “My style is casual-bordering-on-tomboyish. I am comfort-oriented, and will experiment with most styles so long as I’m at ease in them. I’ve lost 20 to 25 kilos in the past three-four years, and that’s when I started getting more conscious about my fashion choices.”

Closet staples: “I’m big on layering — so I own a lot of jackets and cardigans, mostly in cotton. Tank tops, jeans, joggers, palazzos and high-waist skirts are the other staples. I like to introduce a pop of colour with patterns, and I am drawn to leopard prints.”

Style influence: “My friends and me were heavily influenced by the Spice Girls growing up. I still remember sporting platform sneakers that they had popularised.”

Shoe story: “Boots are an obsession. My new Disney and Vans canvas shoes are one of my favourite pairs as are my Adidas high top sneakers. You will find Dr Martens in my collection too.”

Go-to brands: “Apart from basics, I’m not overtly concerned about brands. I’m more of a high street person — Bershka, Miss Selfridge, Topshop and Forever 21 are on the top of my list.”

Indian touch: “I’m particular about my Indian clothes; I prefer to keep it simple and elegant. I am drawn to blush tones and subtle embroideries, mainly by Manish Malhotra,Vikram Phadnis and my aunt’s label Mohini’s.”

Off-duty dressing: “I’m normally in joggers and a casual T-shirt at home. I also have this trusty and extremely comfortable maxi dress that I wear often.”

Love for accessories:“I love Salvatore Ferragamo belts, mainly because of their horseshoe logo. I have a penchant for oversized bags — I have a few by Louis Vuitton, and bought one from Céline recently. Long chains and stackable bracelets are essential to my style. I always wear this solitaire ring that I bought four years ago — my goal is to keep updating it with a bigger rock as I become more successful.”

Shopping haunts: “Dubai, hands down. I go there every six months to stock up on all my wardrobe essentials.”

Style advisor: “My younger sister (Kanchi Ranjan) is my go-to style advisor, and also my biggest fashion critic. I even send her pictures seeking her opinion when’s she not around. I trust her judgment blindly.”

Nailed it: “I’m finicky about my nails and you’ll find me sporting gel nails almost all the time. I love French tips, sometimes with a hint of glitter.”
