scans the runway at Lakme Fashion Week and picks out the four big winter trends for you...

1. Military-inspired accessories and clothing: The trend was witnessed in Little Shilpa’s military-inspired line but re-appeared in many other collections too. From military tassels to badges, medals with necklaces and jackets with bold buttons, military-inspired techniques will be big in the coming season.

2. Tartan patterns: The Scottish kilt patterns have been Indianised and how! While designer Asmita Marwah put these on tunics, Swapnil Shinde accessorised belts and shoes in his collection with this print. Some even put the patterns on satin to present sexy feminine gowns.

3. Asymmetrical drapes: There has been heavy experimentation in the techniques of draping with designers moving beyond the Grecian silhouettes. There are drapes on jackets, racerback tops, tunics, sack dresses and saris among other garments.

4. Earthy tones: For this autumn/winter, colours like chocolate brown, muddy yellow and brick reds are the hues to sport.
