Delhi’s couture ‘weak’

Even as the Capital’s debut edition of Couture Week concludes, Delhi doesn’t seem to understand couture all that well. HT City asked a few attendees what they thought it was all about, and most of them stuck to vague definitions like “something beautiful”.

“Couture means fashion to me,” said socialite Ammu Saidi. For Cheena Vig, “It means fabulous clothes that make you feel like a diva.” Entrepreneur Priya Sachdev got poetic: “It is an art.” Even models who walked the ramp at the event beat about the bush.

“It’s like a dream,” said model Neha Kapur. Model Kriti Sanon described it as “a grand fashion event with lots of designers and their lovely clothes.” The word couture stands for the creation of exclusive, high-quality, custom-fitted clothing, often certified by a fashion body, such as in France.
