Liquid metallics

Sequins and the wet crystal look rained on the red carpet as Hollywood A-listers went ultra-glam with all-over shimmer. While Nicole Kidman stood out in a floor-length dress by L’ Wren Scott, Naomi Watts lit up the red carpet in an Armani Prive metallic gown that fit her body like second skin. Renée Zellweger was also seen in a gold, liquid shimmer Carolina Herrera dress.

Back bling

Seems like women who won big had a lucky charm — neckpieces that cascaded down their backs, spotted on Jennifer Lawrence (R) and Anne Hathaway. The latter also got noticed for a pointed bustline, and there’s now a Twitter account dedicated to it: @HathawayNi**le, reminiscent of last year’s Twitter handle for actor Angelina Jolie’s leg.

Delicate style

Back-swept hair added fresh romance to the look of these beauties. Delicate ear studs went wonderfully with soft, pulled back locks as blush tones, dewy makeup and neutral hues ushered in unhindered class and style.

Clutch tale

To go with their couture designs, Hollywood ladies showed off perfectly manicured hands and bejewelled purses. Box clutches seemed to be a hot favourite

while pouch-style slim picks were also a big hit. Here are some that caught our attention

In vogue, Baroque

While the old Hollywood look reigned supreme, Victorian grandeur, too, made its way to the red carpet with Salma Hayek’s Alexander McQueen dress and Olivia Munn’s Marchesa gown that incorporated Baroque inputs.
