After a year of spats, drama and multiple splits, there seems to be a union in the offing for the Indian fashion fraternity. Coming together for the first time exclusively for HT City, the trio of Vijay Singh, Raghavendra Rathore and Sunil Sethi, all part of different fashion bodies but collectively under the government supported Fashion Design Promotion Council (FDPC), confirmed working together “aggressively” to host a common fashion week in March, among other joint efforts.

While Fashion Foundation of India’s Sumeet Nair was not present, Rathore, who is part of FFI said, “Though am not representing FFI here, I would say the possibility of coming together is there.” All three sounded affirmative when quizzed about the possibility of just one fashion week in March. Singh said, “We are aggressively working on it” while Sethi added, “I am all for it!”

FDPC is inaugurating its office today where the agenda and the 15-member advisory body of the Council will be announced. HT City has found that Sunil Sethi will head this advisory council as chairman/president, while designers Rina Dhaka, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Sabyasachi, Rohit Gandhi, Leena Singh, Rocky S and Anamika Khanna are some key members.

When we categorically asked about Sumeet Nair’s inclusion in the advisory council, the trio said, “It’s going to be designers only. FDCI has been appointed as one of the two corporate members.” The agenda is ambitious but Singh is hopeful that it will succeed with help from the government.
