Walking into a Zara store on a Sunday evening is like willingly entering a riot situation. The hugely popular Spanish brand has been on sale for over a week now, but shoppers still haven’t had enough. Finding queues for the changing room accommodating atleast 10 people at any point of time, often with an armful of clothes, isn’t uncommon.When shopping attendants don’t have time to follow you around or when perfectly decent people won’t hesitate to elbow you out of the way to get to that lime green sling bag before you do, you know it’s sale season.

Despite having a Super Saturday sale on June 4, where everything in store was at flat 60 percent off, fast fashion brands Vero Moda, Only and Jack and Jones will go on sale again on July 15.“On our Super Saturday, we had over 21,000 people enter our stores in Mumbai alone, and we sold over 39,000 pieces in one day,” says Vineet Gautam, country head, Bestseller, India. “It was the biggest sale in any shop this season. So now we’re only going on sale to continue the buzz.”

He warns that the sale will only be a crisp two-week long affair, and that their inventory offerings will be staggered.“It’s not fair for someone to buy a bag on Friday at full price only to find it at a discounted rate on Saturday,” he says. “So we will stagger our offerings and you’ll find new stuff on sale every week.” Amit Dhanjani, head of marketing and communication at GAS India, says, “We officially launched our sale today, but we had a special preview for some loyal customers a day in advance.”

Sale schedule

Benetton: 30 per cent flat and 40 per cent flat (above R 7000). Till August 5.
Levis: Upto 40 per cent till July 25.
Adidas: Shoes at 30 per cent flat and apparel at 40 per cent flat.Till August 7.

Metro shoes: Flat 50 per cent till first week of August.
Accessorize: Flat 30 per cent till July 20.
