When fashion rocked IIFA

Sri Lankan designers shared stage with their Indian counterparts at the film extravaganza in Colombo.

The style quotient was to watch out for at the first day of the IIFA Fashion extravaganza held in Sri Lanka as stars like: Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu walked the ramp in a bid to promote their respective upcoming films.

This year, the fashion extravaganza, ‘IIFA Rocks’ featured Indian designers Manish Malhotra and Vikram Phadnis and leading Sri Lankan designers Yoland and Kanchana (KT Brown).

Glam and glitter

Malaika Arora Khan was the show stopper for Vikram Phadnis, while Jacqueline Fernandez walked the ramp to showcase Manish Malhotra’s ethnic collection.Composers Salim-Suleiman and singers Kailash Kher and Anushka Manchanda performed at the event.

The IIFA Foundation Fashion Extravaganza was spread over two days with the second night called IIFA Bling that featured celebrity showcases by designers Rocky S and Nandita Mahtani. “I showed a line of womenswear,” said designer Nandita Mahtani, who had leading ladies Dia Mirza, Neha Dhupia and Jacqueline Fernandes flaunting her creations.

Designer Rocky S showcased his new pet project, his menswear line, along with Mahtani. “I settled on an old English school theme for the boys. I’ve designed a brand new collection for the occasion, focussing on black and white as the theme colours,” he said. Leading Lankan cricketers walked for Rocky along with actors Viveik Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Arjan Bajwa and Jackky Bhagnani.
