Barcelona star Neymar has been ordered by a Spanish court to stand trial over fraud and corruption charges during his transfer from Santos in 2013.

The court has also ordered the two clubs, as well as members of Neymar’s family, Santos officials and Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu and his predecessor Sandro Rosell, to be sent to trial over the controversial transfer.

The parties involved in the transfer were accused of showing a lower cost for the player’s acquisition by Barcelona.

Neymar’s parents were alleged to have received a significant cut of the actual transfer figure.

When in 2014, Barcelona decided to reveal the details of the transfer fee, it turned out to be much higher than the initial €57.1 million figure quoted by the-then club vice-president Bartomeu.

Both Barcelona and Neymar were subsequently charged for tax fraud.
