Yadav made the remarks after meeting Torrent Group and Torrent Power chairman Samir Mehta in Ahmedabad on August 12. Senior state officials were present.

The group is developing a 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power project in Anuppur district at an investment of about 22,000 crore. The project is expected to create around 7,000 jobs. A power purchase agreement with Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company was signed on January 27, 2026.

Land acquisition has been completed, while contracts have been awarded to L&T and Tata Projects. Environmental and forest clearances have been received and pre-construction work is underway.

Torrent is also developing the 1,500 MW Patalkot pumped storage project in Chhindwara, involving 7,500 crore and about 4,000 jobs. A 250 MW wind project in Ratlam and Ujjain involves 2,000 crore and 500 jobs. The group operates a 36 MW wind unit in Mandsaur.

Another 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal project is under development, involving 11,000 crore and 3,500 jobs.

Yadav invited Torrent Power to participate in the state’s proposed tender for procurement of 2,800 MW of thermal capacity under the design, build, finance, own and operate model. The Centre’s Central Electricity Authority has estimated an additional thermal power requirement of about 1,900 MW for Madhya Pradesh by 2036-37.

Torrent also operates a USFDA-approved pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Dhar district, built with an investment of 300 crore and employing more than 400 people.
