20-year-old man booked for rape attempt on minor in Gurugram

The incident took place on Friday around 2pm when the accused entered the girl’s house on the pretext of buying her chocolates and then allegedly molested her.

A 20-year-old man allegedly stripped and attempted to rape a four-year-old girl on Friday evening in Palam Vihar area when the child’s parents were at work. The accused, who is at large, was booked on Friday under Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police said.

The incident took place on Friday around 2pm when the accused entered the girl’s house on the pretext of buying her chocolates and then allegedly molested her.

The incident came to light around 8pm on Friday when the girl’s mother came home from work and her son informed her. The police said that the accused fled the spot when the girl raised the alarm. Shamsher Singh, assistant commissioner of police (crime), said, “We are conducting raids to arrest the accused and have sent his mobile number for technical surveillance.”
