The city police on Wednesday arrested three persons for the murder of a 55-year-old businessman, including the victim’s son.

According to the police, 27-year-old Mayank Choudhary planned to murder his father over a property dispute with the help of friends. The police also recovered a .32 bore pistol, a Tata Indigo car and Rs. 1.17 lakh in cash from the accused.
The victim, Anil Chaudhary, lived with his family at Park View Residency with two sons and a daughter. Mayank, the police said, wanted to sell off a flat but his father was not willing despite several efforts made by him. The youth planned to murder his father with the help of his friend, Rahul, a native of Madhya Pradesh. He helped Mayank buy a country-made pistol for R50,000.
The armed youth reached the flat on Wednesday and tried to smother Anil Chaudhary first. When the victim resisted, they shot him dead in his bedroom.
The accused then ransacked the house and fled with cash to make it look like a robbery.
“We had suspected the elder son’s involvement and he confessed during interrogation,” said Surinder Pal, DCP (west).
Moreover, it was found that Mayank had also been booked for fraud in 2009 when he reported a fake car theft to claim insurance money.
