Cop hangs himself in barracks at Farrukhnagar police station
Rajesh Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Manesar, said the ASI allegedly hung himself from the ceiling fan in the investigating official’s (IO) room in the evening.
A 50-year-old assistant sub inspector (ASI), posted at Farrukhnagar police station, allegedly hanged himself in the barracks on Friday evening, the police said. They said that no suicide note was recovered from the spot, and that prima facie, the reason for the alleged suicide was not known.

The ASI from Rohtak was posted at the Farrukhnagar police station more than six months ago and had visited his family after the elections were conducted in the Gurgaon constituency.
Rajesh Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Manesar, said the ASI allegedly hung himself from the ceiling fan in the investigating official’s (IO) room in the evening.
“He was alone in the barracks at the time of the incident. After speaking with his colleagues and family, no possible reasons have come forth to suggest that he was under stress. His wife and children have reached the city and we are conducting an investigation,” the DCP said.
The police said no official enquiry had been pending against the ASI, and added that the autopsy would be conducted on Saturday.
The police have initiated inquest proceedings under Code of Criminal Procedure Sec 174.
In 2017, an additional station house officer had been found dead under mysterious circumstances at Sadar police station. In 2016, a 37-year-old head constable, posted at a city police station, allegedly hung himself at his official flat in Police Lines.
