Cops seize 455 cartons of sumggled foreign liquor

The crime investigation agency (CIA)-9 of Sector 39 arrested a truck driver on Thursday morning for allegedly carrying 455 cases of foreign-made liquor. Police nabbed Aamir Khan, a native of Tauru, Mewat on Sohna Road when he was driving towards Jaipur to deliver the liquor to Gujarat.

The crime investigation agency (CIA)-9 of Sector 39 arrested a truck driver on Thursday morning for allegedly carrying 455 cases of foreign-made liquor.

The agency sent the driver and supplier to 14 days judicial custody after being produced before the city court and they also seized the truck.

Police nabbed Aamir Khan, a native of Tauru, Mewat on Sohna Road when he was driving towards Jaipur to deliver the liquor to Gujarat.

The number plates of the truck were different at the front and the back of the truck in order to mislead the police.

According to the police, Khan loaded the liquor from Faridabad and was taking the stock to a hotel in Gujarat.

The liquor was to be loaded into a dif ferent vehicle at Jaipur which would then be transported to Gujarat.

The CIA- 9 had deployed teams on the route after receiving a tip-off. When they stopped the truck, the driver tried to flee but was caught after a few kilometers.

ACP(Crime) Rajesh Kumar said, “After the investigation, we arrested the driver under the Excise Act and on fraud charges. We will hand over the liquor to the excise department”.
