Haryana known for jawan, kisan, not violence: Naidu

In a witty address on the inaugural day of the Happening Haryana summit on Monday, union minister of urban development Venkaiah Naidu spoke on a variety of topics, including the JNU issue, Jat agitation and Real Estate Regulatory Bill.

Starting his address on a lighter note, Naidu said the Central government expresses solidarity with people of Haryana but not of the “JNU type”.

“There are 740 universities in the country. Students in 737 are focused on studies and brilliance. But the focus of everyone is only on 3 where negative things happen,” Naidu said.

Speaking on the way forward for Haryana, Naidu reiterated that Haryana can become a top state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar. “This pair of Modi and Khattar will do a lot for Haryana,” he said, adding that support of people is crucial for transformation to happen.

Amid the light banter, Naidu, reminded the Haryana government that violence and strife seen during the recent Jat agitation was something that should never happen again. “This is not allowed and should never happen. The state is known for kisan and jawan,” he said.

Calling Modi a visionary, Naidu turned his name into an acronym and said MODI was Maker of Development of India. “Transformation of Haryana and the country cannot be done by suit, boot, and hat ki Sarkar but one with vision, dedication and the right intent,” Naidu said. Also, people have to change the mindset “government will do everything and I will sit idle” Naidu said.

Bringing smiles on the faces of the real estate developers at the summit, Naidu said the Real Estate Regulatory Bill will only be a regulation and not “strangulation of the industry”.

“The Real Estate Bill is going to be a reality in the ongoing budget session and discussions are on with stakeholders,” he said.

Apart from the development of Karnal and Faridabad into smart cities,18 other Haryana cities will get funding under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation, Naidu said.
