Giving a fresh impetus to the stalled infrastructure projects in Gurgaon, the urban development authority has announced that it will soon acquire 102 acres required for building the Central Peripheral Road (CPR) connecting two important highways.

The 3.2-kilometre long road will help in connecting the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and NH-8 to the Dwarka Expressway. The CPR will start 200-metres before Kherki-Daula toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway (NH-8) and will join the Dwarka Expressway near Harsaru village.

This connecting road will be a vital link between Dwarka Expressway and SPR as a cloverleaf flyover will be built on the NH-8 to facilitate easy movement of vehicles from east to west and vice-versa. The connectivity between the two major roads will help in decongesting the NH-8, which witnesses daily jams and has several bottlenecks between Gurgaon and Delhi.

A large number of vehicles going to Sohna road and Golf Course Road from Dwarka and west Delhi could use this connection. Traffic from south Delhi, Golf Course Road and Faridabad could easily enter the city, go to Manesar or move towards new sectors and Dwarka, thus reducing pressure on the highway.

Last week, the Huda held draw of lots for evictees of Dwarka Expressway also know was the Northern Peripheral Road.

The land acquisition for CPR was delayed because the Huda was short on funds. However, spurred by the state government’s directive to complete major infrastructure projects at the earliest, Huda will now pay `700 crore to acquire the land which falls in villages Kherki Daula, Harsaru, Naharpur, Mohammadpur, Jharsa and Narsinghpur.

The Huda has already prepared a detailed project report for the 3.2-km long road, costing `22.8 crore.

Senior officials of Haryana government had also visited the NH-8 and this stretch to expedite the construction of this road as it will ease jams on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and Kherki Daula toll plaza.

The construction of this road will also give a much needed boost to the real estate developments that have come along both the roads. Lack of road connectivity and related infrastructure has led to long delays in completion of projects along these major road.

“Our priority is to decongest the expressway and build the major roads that have been stuck for a long period,” Yadav said.
