Theme parties fetched Gurgaon teen quick money

Meanwhile, the Gurgaon police on Monday produced the pub owner, Milap Singh, and its manager, Anil Chahar, in a city court, which granted them bail. The police, however, let the youth off with a warning.

Reportedly, for this Class 12 passout of a prominent Delhi school, who goes by the name Bhaiya, organising such wild theme parties is a side business.

Sources say this is a new trend with many school and college students in the city who are always hungry to make a quick buck as they get hefty commissions from the pubs and bars.

"The organiser earns Rs 20,000 per theme-based party and his weekly liquor and food bill is taken care of by the pub," said a pub manager, who did not wish to be named.

The Gurgaon traffic police have now decided to keep an eye on parked vehicles on MG Road — popularly known as the Mall Mile — starting Tuesday, and anyone below the age of 18 found driving a vehicle will be penalised and their vehicles impounded.

Parties a way to earn extra money for pubs
Investigations have revealed that each of the invitees to the 'birthday' party on Sunday was charged Rs 600, taking the total amount furnished to around R60,000. In such parties, as soon as the organiser deposits the money, he gets Rs 15,000 as cash-back. Considering 40% of it to be the pub's overhead expenses, owners make a steep profit of about Rs 20,000.
