Three bodies with throats slit found in Aravalli forest near Gurgaon

All three were identified as construction workers who had ventured into the Aravalli forest to collect firewood.

The bodies of two women and a man, with their throats slit, were found in the Aravalli forest near Sohna, about 16km from Gurugram, on Tuesday.

The medical team that conducted an autopsy on the bodies has raised the suspicion that the two women were also sexually assaulted. A fourth person, the husband of one of victims who had accompanied the trio into to the forest, is missing, police said. They are combing the area to find him as they suspect that he had a role in the murders.

The other victims were married to each other and all four are construction labourers from Panna district in Madhya Pradesh who were been staying on rent in nearby Ghamroj village, police said . They had gone into the forest to collect firewood, police said.

Dr Deepak Mathur, who conducted the post-mortem, said the victims were killed by multiple injuries to the throat with sharp edged weapon.

“There is possibility that both the women were sexually assaulted and for confirmation of the same samples have been sent to laboratory. There are also minor injuries on their bodies. However, there is no evidence of usage of alcohol or any other drugs as the stomachs of the victims were empty”, said Mathur.

Over 100 people, including local residents and policemen from nearby stations, were deployed on Tuesday to hunt for the missing man after the bodies were discovered. A forensic team collected evidence from the scene of the crime. Later a team of sniffer dogs were deployed, particularly to track if the missing man had left the forest or had also been killed.

The four had gone to collect firewood from the forest around 11 am and they had been missing since then. A case was registered on the complaint of a victim’s brother-in-law, who works as a driver in Gurugram.

Police said that a case of murder has been registered under section 302, 201 and 346 of IPC at Bhondsi police station. “As far as sexual assault is concerned we are waiting for the post-mortem report, which has not reached us yet”, said Inspector Umesh Kumar, SHO, Bhondsi.
