Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and their companions in arms will come face to face with Ultron in the sequel to, The Avengers, in May 2015, according to comments from the film's director, Joss Whedon, at Comic-Con in San Diego.
After defeating Loki and Thanos in 2012, the Avengers will team up against the electronic giant Ultron, who first appeared in a volume of Marvel Comics in 1968. According to the canon of Marvel mythology, the deeply intelligent and highly dangerous robot was developed by the scientist Henry Pym, also known as Ant-Man. The film, however, dubbed, Avengers: Age of Ultron, leaves the scientist out of the picture to make way for another creator, Whedon announced.
The film is slated for release in North American cinemas on May 1, 2015 and will mark the end of Marvel's Phase 2 of cinematic adaptations, which began with, Iron Man 3 last spring. In the meantime, moviegoers can look forward to seeing, Thor: The Dark World (fall 2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Spring 2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy (summer 2014).
Superhero action fans can also turn to their TVs this fall. Agents of SHIELD, depicts the day-to-day life of members of a security team responsible for managing the presence of superpowers in the world. Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen and Cobie Smulders play in this hotly anticipated series, which will be debuted by ABC from September 24, 2013.
