Captain Archibald Haddock’s new accent was revealed when the trailer for The Adventures of Tintin was unveiled this week. Most of the critics were left bewildered by the sudden change. "Why the blistering f*** is Captain Haddock Scottish?" the Daily Mail quoted a critic as saying. "There is never the remotest Scottish connection other than an intense love for whisky," the critic added.

The voice to the character in the computer animation film was given by Andy Serkis, the English actor best known for playing Gollum in The Lord of the Rings.
