Actor Judi Dench, who is famous for portraying the character of M in the Bond films, can’t stop gushing about India, where she shot for her latest flick, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. “I’ve never been to India before and I was bewitched by it. It’s entirely life- changing and it has truly changed my life. I hope I go back and I hope that I take my family with me,” says the 71-year-old.
In the film, shot in Rajasthan, the actor essays the role of Evelyn Greensdale, a widow who is part of a group of British pensioners enticed to spend their retirement in India, at the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, where they can make the most of their limited resources.
Directed by John Madden, the film also stars actors Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Celia Imrie, Dame Maggie Smith, and Dev Patel, who plays the ever-optimistic young hotel owner — Sonny Kapoor.
As for working with Patel, Dench says, “With Dev, no two takes are the same. He’s like a springing gazelle. He’s a very talented boy.”
