Kate Winslet clears up those Leonardo DiCaprio dating rumours with a firm declaration
A month after she was spotted chilling by the pool with her Titanic co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, in Saint-Tropez, Kate Winslet cleared up rumours that the two were holidaying.
Kate Winslet in a new interview spoke about the recent viral pictures in which she was spotted chilling by a pool with her Titanic co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio.
Shortly after the images surfaced online mid August, fans began speculating about whether or not there was something cooking between the two.
In fact, Winslet says, she was there for a fundraiser. “We weren’t on vacation at all!” the star told E!. “Leo did his annual fundraiser for the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. He and I went together and we auctioned off dinner with Jack and Rose and actually raised $1.35 million. It was extraordinary.”
The pictures showed DiCaprio, 42 and Winslet, 41, arm in arm, wearing swimsuits in the tropical French beachside town of Saint-Tropez.
Swatting away the rumours, Winslet, who has been married to businessman Ned Rocknroll since 2012, declared, “I’ve never been on a holiday with Leo!”
DiCaprio and Winslet first starred opposite each other in the Oscar-winning blockbuster, Titanic. They played a troubled married couple in 2009’s Revolutionary Road, directed by Winslet’s ex-husband, Sam Mendes.
She’d previously spoken about the “unique” relationship she shares with DiCaprio in an interview to Glamour. “We know each other in a very unique way, I think, because of the experience we both had on that film and having to take care of one another,” she explained.
