The fantasy specialists will also coproduce the upcoming trilogy with Kathleen Kennedy. Their main focus will be on episodes VIII and IX, according to the movie news website. Episode VII is in the hands of Michael Arndt, who penned the plot of Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3.

With George Lucas out of the picture, Lawrence Kasdan will provide old-school cachet to the plot. Kasdan was involved in the plot of Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983). Aged 39, Simon Kinberg is part of the young guard of Hollywood writers. He recently contributed to the revival of two franchises, Sherlock Holmes and The X-Men.
The upcoming Star Wars trilogy is set to hit theaters in 2015 with Episode VII. Following its acquisition of Lucasfilm, Disney is supervising the movie.
