Pulitzer Prize-winner Michael Chabon is in talks to write the Disney's comedy, Bob the Musical with Tom Cruise circling to star.

The 52-year-old writer has previously worked on many other projects for Disney and 2004's Spider-Man 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise is expected to star as the lead character of a regular guy who, after a blow to the head, suddenly can hear the inner songs of everyone's heart.

Besides The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay writer, Bret McKenzie, who wrote many songs for The Muppets and won an Oscar for best original song with Man or Muppet, has been roped in to compose songs for the feature.

Michel Hazanavicius, who helmed the Oscar-winning 2011 film The Artist will direct the project that has been in development since 2004.

Tripp Vinson, Chris Bender, JC Spink and Beau Flynn are producing the project.
