Football lovers, we have some good news for you. SARE Homes Hindustan Times Great Indian Football Action (GIFA) is back with its fourth season and how! The annual inter-locality football tournament, organised in Delhi-NCR for children, started as a grassroot initiative with only 51 teams in Gurgaon. It has today become India’s largest neighbourhood football tournament with over 2000 teams, which have registered already. The tournament, has come a long way where it has turned into a movement, in which not just children but parents, neighbours and even residential societies come together to support the sport.

Parents, these days, feel sports is a good alternative to unhook their kids from video games and TV screens. SARE Homes HT GIFA provides an ideal platform to drive children towards football and help them develop a passion for the sport. Manav Sharma, a student says, “I used to play a lot of video games and stick to the screen, and playing sports really changed my life. I’m now a more active person, more relaxed, and also doing better at academics. I waste a lot less time checking my social media. HT GIFA helped me spark the passion for football, when I went to support my friend last year. The game immediately caught my interest and I’ve been practising ever since. I will be participating, and also hope to win, this year.”

Also, sports help improve one’s physical fitness and incorporate values of teamwork and sportsmanship among the youngsters. “I have been preparing with my team for a few months now. We are following a high protein diet and exercise regularly before football practice to maintain both strength and stamina. All players from my team have improved their game significantly, and we are just waiting for the pre-qualifiers to start,” says Anurag Singh, another student.

Around 2000 teams have registered this season and more are pouring in everyday to grab this chance. Seeing the overwhelming response, the last date of registration has been extended to July 31. So, don’t miss this opportunity and rush to get your team registered on for SARE Homes HT GIFA season 4.
