A Class-12 student, who was stabbed by his classmates at a private school in Jind, died on Sunday night at the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, the police said. The deceased has been identified as Ankush, 18, who studied at the Indus Public School in Pillu Khera town in Jind. Haryana finance minister Captain Abhimanyu’s family owns the school.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning, when the victim along with his four friends, was stabbed and thrashed by four of his classmates who had nursed a grudge against them over a petty fight the previous day.
The fight reportedly happened over talking to a girl in the class. The police said the four accused had brought knives in their school bags and attacked the five victims when the teacher left the class. They stopped only when the faculty intervened and fled the spot threatening to ‘finish them later’.
The police said the victim, Ankush, was stabbed in his stomach and back. One of his friends also suffered critical wounds. Both were referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Rohtak, from where Ankush’s family shifted him to the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Sunday. He succumbed late night. The police said the other boy was better now.
The police have registered a case against the four accused, who could be minor, under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Pillu Khera SHO Kishori Lal confirmed they have added section 302 (murder) in the FIR after Ankush succumbed.“The accused will be arrested soon,” he added.
