2 Lashkar terrorists gunned down in J&K's Kupwara, search operation on
One of the terrorists has been identified as Tufail. He was a Pakistani national, the officials informed.

Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were shot dead in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara on Tuesday in an early-morning security operation, police have said. According to a tweet by Kashmir Zone Police, they were killed in amid a gunfight between the security officials and the terrorists, which broke in early hours of the day in the Chaktaras Kandi area of the district.
One of the terrorists has been identified as Tufail. He was a Pakistani national, the officials informed. "Two terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT including one Pakistani terrorist namely Tufail killed. Search still going on," the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
This comes a day after, another LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) terrorist was killed in an encounter in the Sopore town of Baramulla district. As per the documents recovered from the Pakistani terrorist, his name was Hanzalla and he was a resident of Lahore.
Earlier, a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) 'commander' was killed in an overnight encounter in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, the Jammu and Kashmir police said on Saturday.
A rise in terrorists attacks has been observed in Kashmir over the last few weeks, with civilians being the target in many incidents.
Last week, a bank manager was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. Before this, a high school teacher – Rajini Bhalla – died of gunshot injuries in Kulgam. In May, Kashmiri TV actress, Amreen Bhat, was killed in Budgam's Chadoora area, while her 10-year-old nephew was injured.
On Sunday, J&K's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that terrorists are targeting innocent civillians “desperation to provoke security forces.” "Our forces will keep responding effectively and firmly resolved to finish destructive threat of terrorism,” Sinha also said.
