‘Almost nothing…': Swiss ambassador says black money isn't an issue anymore
The Swiss ambassador said that several batches of information exchanges took place between both countries and the issue related to black money isn't an issue anymore.
Swiss ambassador to India Ralf Heckner on Monday said that he “almost heard nothing” on matters related to black money in his last two years of tenure and that the issue was dealt between India and Switzerland through bilateral treaties in 2018. He said that the issue related to black money "isn't an issue anymore.

“I've been Swiss ambassador to India for over two years. I almost heard nothing or hardly anything about black money. Black money issues dealt with by a bilateral treaty between Switzerland and India in 2018 on automatic exchange of bank info between the two countries - both directions,” Heckner was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. He added that several batches of information exchanges took place between both countries and the issue related to black money isn't an issue anymore.

This comes around a month after Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Centre recovered around ₹1.25 lakh crore and disproportionate assets worth ₹4,600 crore have been attached.
“Whether it is faceless IT assessment or online refund, or auction of coal mines and 5G spectrum, transparency has increased in all. Running a campaign against corruption, the government has seized ₹4,300 crore worth of illegal assets. Registration of 1.75 lakh shell companies has been cancelled, and black money worth ₹1.25 lakh crore has been seized,” Vaishnaw said earlier.
On January 2, the Supreme Court affirmed the Narendra Modi government's decision to demonetise ₹500 and ₹1,000 currency notes in 2016. The verdict came amid the Centre's justification saying the decision was taken to crack down on fake currency, black money and terror financing.
