Army officer dies after falling off mule en route to Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir

Major Pardeep Singh was posted at 87 Brigade in Udhampur.

A young army officer died after falling off a mule at Ardhkuwari en route to Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Major Pardeep Singh, 36, son of Brig. Kamal Singh Chauhan, who hails from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The officer was posted at 87 Brigade in Udhampur.

He was rushed to a local dispensary where doctors declared him brought dead, said a police officer. He died of head injuries suffered in the fall, he added.

On Sunday Major General Sanjeev Harbans Gupta, commandant of Western Command Military Dental Centre, died after he fell off a golf cart while passing over a bridge across a drain at the golf park at the Chandimandir Military Station in Haryana.

Major Pardeep Singh’s sister Sushma Chauhan is an IAS officer, who served as deputy commissioner Reasi and director tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.

She is presently in Delhi undergoing some training.
