At least nine people died on Sunday after a fishing boat capsized in Mannapadu, Thuthukudi district of Tamil Nadu.

At least 7 people died after a fishing boat capsized off the coast of Tamil Nadu. (Representative image)

More than 30 people were on the fishing boat when it capsized while returning to the shore. The dead include five women, two children and as many men.

The others have been rescued, including 6 who have been transferred to nearby government and private hospitals for emergency treatment.
