Yamuna Expressway mishap: Bihar-Delhi bus carrying 40 collides with car in Mathura; 5 dead

Four to five people are feared after a sleeper coach bus with 40 people onboard and a car collided on the Yamuna Expressway.

Five people were killed after a passenger bus with 40 people onboard and a car collided in Mathura on the Yamuna Expressway on Monday morning, senior superintendent of police Mathura Shailesh Dubey said. The incident took place near the Mahawan area in Mathura when the sleeper coach bus was heading towards Noida from Agra.

While all the passengers on the bus managed to escape safely, those traveling in the car were charred to death as both vehicles caught fire after the collision, the police said.

A video posted by news agency PTI shows the car and bus collided and caught on fire.

“All five passengers in the car were charred to death. One of the victims is identified and their family has been notified. The rest of the investigation to determine the identity of the victims is underway,” SSP Pandey said.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the deaths in the incident and directed officials in Mathura to make suitable arrangements for the kin of the victims.
