Chennai man killed in hit and run accident

A 45-year-old man was killed early on Saturday morning after being hit by a car on the Old Madras Road in Chennai.

Munnasamy, a carpenter, died on the spot after a speeding Audi slammed into him. The driver was a 26-year-old woman, Aishwarya, who was allegedly inebriated,.

Some eyewitnesses say that Aishwarya did not stop her car after colliding with Munnasamy, before giving chase until she parked her vehicle.

She is currently in judicial custody, and her car has been impounded. Police are yet to determine whether Aishwarya was indeed driving under the influence.

Munnasamy’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. A resident of Chetpet, he is survived by his wife and two children.
