“Ram Bharose, resident of Kanpur Dehat, lodged in Mathura Jail on June 4 developed congestion in his chest. He was admitted in the jail hospital but on the advise of doctors he was shifted to district hospital where he breathed his last at about 8pm,” jail superintendent PD Salonia said.
His family members have been informed and his body has been sent for post-mortem, Salonia said.
Ram Bharose had been assaulted by a crowd outside Jawahar Bagh following which he was admitted in the district hospital and was later shifted to Mathura Jail on June 4.
He was booked under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and his involvement was suspected in the killing of SP (city) Mukul Dwivedi, police said.
