Court allows CBI plea seeking further probe into NEET leak

A Delhi court on Friday allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to further investigate the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case and place additional forensic evidence pertaining to other “co-conspirators” involved in the exam syndicate.
The order was passed by Fast-track court Special Judge Ajay Gupta, in response to an application moved by the federal agency, seeking to probe the case further by bringing on record certain incriminating material in the form of electronic evidence against “co-conspirators” other than the 13 accused, who are yet to be prosecuted.
The CBI had earlier this month filed a charge sheet against all 13 arrested accused in the alleged NEET-UG 2026 question paper leak case, saying its investigation has traced the leak from the paper setters to the beneficiary candidates and uncovered the entire chain of the alleged conspiracy.
The prosecution, in its plea, had told the court that certain digital evidence had surfaced from the electronic devices of the accused persons, due to which it was imperative to obtain an expert opinion on the data from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL).
The evidence, as and when received, will be analysed and submitted before the court in the form of a supplementary charge sheet, the CBI told the court.
The fast-track court had on Thursday said that the three subject experts committed a criminal breach of trust with the National Testing Authority (NTA) which had engaged them for translating the NEET-UG 2026 examination, despite submitting an undertaking of not revealing the questions with anyone.
