A sub-inspector of the CRPF’s CoBRA wing was killed and a constable seriously injured in a blast caused due to a pressure bomb planted by Maoists in South Sukma on Thursday morning.
Inspector general of police ( Bastar range ) Vivekanand Sinhna told Hindustan Times that the incident took place in Puswada village under Pollampalli police station area in South Sukma at around 8 am.
“A road opening party of of the 206 battalion of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) was on patrolling duty when a pressure bomb exploded and sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar and constable Manik Tinpare were injured. Both were rushed to the field hospital in Chintagufa camp for treatment where Rajesh died,” said the I-G.
The constable was sent to Raipur for further treatment, he added.
He further said that reinforcements were rushed to the spot and combing operation is going on.
On Sunday, seven security personnel were killed when Maoists blew up their vehicle with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Dantewada district. Maoists also looted six automatic rifles of the police personnel.
Maoists generally conduct their tactical counter offensive campaign (TCOC) against security forces from March to June every year, trying to inflict maximum damage.
