Delhi Police issues traffic advisory for Hanuman Jayanti. Check key diversion points

In view of Hanuman jayanti, traffic diversions will be imposed on Rail Chatta Chowk, Subhash Cut, GPO Chowk, Kela Ghat and Iron Bridge.

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory ahead of Hanuman Jayanti celebrations in the city, informing that the traffic may be affected near the Marghat Wale Hanuman mandir on Ring Road.

Traffic diversions are in place for the entire day on Thursday, April 2.

Key areas include Rail Chhatta Chowk, Subhash Cut, GPO Chowk, Kela Ghat and Iron Bridge. The advisory urged commuters to plan routes in advance, especially those heading towards ISBT and Old Delhi Railway Station.

According to the advisory, multiple processions and functions will take place in and around Marghat Wale Hanuman mandir on the occasion of Lord Shree Hanuman Janmotsav.

Further, Nishad Raj Marg (Shanti Van to Subhash Cut) and Boulevard Road (ISBT to Barafkhana Chowk) will also be affected.

To maintain the flow of vehicular movement, traffic diversions will be imposed on Rail Chatta Chowk, Subhash Cut, GPO Chowk, Kela Ghat, Iron Bridge and the Boulevard Road to Lothian Road T-point.

Advisory to commuters

Traffic police urged the commuters to avoid non-essential travel through the affected area and to plan their journeys in advance. Commuters going to the Old Delhi railway station and the ISBT were advised to plan their travel accordingly.

It also advised commuters to use public transport, including the Delhi metro and buses and to follow the directions of traffic police personnel.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police have also set up elaborate security and traffic arrangements in northwest Delhi ahead of Hanuman Jayanti. Special focus is being given to the sensitive areas such as Jahangirpuri, news agency PTI reported, citing officials.

According to a police statement, a multi-layered security plan has been implemented to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct of the festivities, particularly in Jahangirpuri, which witnessed tensions during similar occasions in the past.
