Himachal: 16 killed, 28 injured as bus falls into gorge in Mandi

At least 16 people were killed and 28 were injured on Saturday when an overloaded private bus plunged into a gorge near Mandi town in Himachal Pradesh, police said.

The ill-fated bus was enroute Kullu town from Mandi when it fell into the gorge near Brindavani, some 200 km from the state capital.

ASP Kulbhushan confirmed the death toll to ANI and said the injured were taken to the zonal hospital in Mandi for treatment.

“Twenty-eight people are being treated free of charge and Rs 5 lakh will be given to family members of the 16 people who died,” transport minister GS Bali said.
