Pune is unique. As a crucible for education, as a hub for information technology, as a bearer of the aspiration of youth, as a rapidly expanding cosmopolitan centre as well as a place firmly rooted in and respectful of its own tradition and culture, as a city that is proudly staking its claim in the national firmament, it is like no other Indian city. Hindustan Times is delighted to bring its own unique offering to Pune.

As a 93-year-old newspaper, we are proud of our rich heritage. Launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1924, we were defined by our crusading spirit during the years of the freedom struggle. At the same time, as a paper that is young at heart, in its concerns and at home in the swiftly evolving digital world, we revel in the present and look ahead to the future. As a newspaper that is national not merely in the number of cities in which we have editions, but in the depth and breadth of our coverage and our interests, we feel we will be a perfect addition to the Punekar’s morning.

We like to believe that we don’t merely look at the news. We break it down; we go beyond it with our analysis; we bring clarity to complex national and international issues; and we help you, the reader, understand your world better.

We love to embrace every city in which we appear. Your city, and you, will be at the heart of our endeavour. We’ll engage with issues that touch and transform your lives. We’ll not merely point out problems that bedevil this city (and which great city is not bedevilled with problems?). We’ll offer solutions, and bang on the doors of the authorities to effect change. We’ll be your voice.

Come, join the conversation. Make us your own as we make you ours. We are in this together.
