Senior IPS officer Madhur Verma was appointed the head of the anti-corruption branch (ACB), officials aware of the development said on Tuesday.
Verma, a 2005 batch IPS officer, was earlier an additional commissioner in the Delhi police’s armed police department.
The ACB is mandated to probe graft cases against Delhi government officials.
Verma has earlier worked as the DCPs of crime branch, the police’s North district and the New Delhi district.
Verma was also Delhi police’s public relations officer until mid 2019.
Special commissioner Sunil Kumar Gautam, a 1989 batch IPS officer, who was heading the ACB until Tuesday will report to Delhi Police where he will be given a new posting.

Another officer, whose transfer order was issued on Tuesday is BS Jaiswal.
Jaiswal was earlier with the Bureau of Police Research and Development. Jaiswal has been posted as the joint commissioner of operations, technology, and project implementation.

{{/usCountry}}After taking over, Arora has been interacting with all departments of the city police. Arora, who was heading the Indo Tibetan Border Police, is a 1987 batch officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre.
This is the third time in the past six decades that the government appointed an officer from a different cadre to head the police force of the national Capital.
The officer has been personally monitoring the security arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort.
