Kerala teacher suspended over quiz question on Savarkar, BJP alleges power misuse
BJP criticised the Indian Union Muslim League for punishing teachers over historical facts. The suspension followed an inquiry and investigation is underway.
A school teacher on Sunday had been suspended over a question on right-wing ideologue VD Savarkar in a quiz, the BJP on Monday accused the Indian Union Muslim League of “misusing power to punish teachers who teach historical facts.”

Guru Prasad, a government upper primary school teacher in Kasaragod, faced action over a quiz question asking: ‘who is the freedom fighter who received the most punishment at the hands of the British?’. The answer key listed Veer Savarkar.
BJP state chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar alleged, “The IUML is misusing power to punish teachers who teach historical facts.”
Education minister N Shamsudheen said the action was based on an inquiry report and that a probe is underway.
