Parliament Monsoon Session: Heavy sloganeering from the opposition in the Rajya Sabha began as Amit Shah stood up to reply to the debate on Operation Sindoor.

Parliament Monsoon Session Highlights: Opposition staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha over the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the House as Union home minister Amit Shah began his reply on the special debate on Operation Sindoor. Later, Shah continued his speech and slammed Opposition for their inaction against terrorism during the UPA government.

Shah also the Parliament that the three Pahalgam terrorists, killed under Operation Mahadev, were shot in the head.

Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and JP Nadda delivered their respective speeches in the Upper House. While Jaishankar said that with the Pahalgam terror attack, a red line was crossed by the terrorists, Nadda slammed the Opposition for taking ‘no action’ against terrorism and Pakistan during the former UPA regime.

The debate on Operation Sindoor began in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, while the Lok Sabha took up the discussion on Monday.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 by the Indian armed forces as a response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that left 26 people dead. The Indian forces hit nine terror infrastructure located with Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and killed more than 100 terrorists.

Before a ceasefire understanding was reached, India also responded to Pakistan's attempted military retaliation and hit Islamabad's airbases as well.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Operation Sindoor debate in the Lok Sabha. In a fierce response, he said the Indian armed forces avenged the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in 22 minutes by destroying terror launch pads in "different corners of Pakistan."

PM Modi described the ongoing Parliament session as a "Vijay Utsav" (victory celebration), celebrating India's military strength and national unity after the success of the armed forces.

Meanwhile, Union minister of parliamentary affairs Kiren Rijiju urged the Opposition to abandon what he termed as "cheap politics" following PM Modi's speech stating that the Prime Minister had categorically outlined the government's stand.

Operation Sindoor debate | What we know

• Rajya Sabha proceedings witnessed chaos on Wednesday as well as the House was adjourned for a while amid Opposition's demand for a discussion on the special intensive revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral rolls.
• Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday confirmed that three terrorists who were involved in the killing of civilians in Pahalgam were neutralised by the security forces during Operation Mahadev.
• Speaking in Lok Sabha, participating in the Op Sindoor debate, PM Modi alleged that Congress "continues to rely on Pakistan for political narratives", has "compromised on national security", and that the previous governments neglected the Sindhu Waters Treaty.
• The discussion on Operation Sindoor concluded in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, while it is still underway in the Rajya Sabha.

The Parliament on Wednesday also witnessed chaos as Opposition continued to demand Prime Minister Narendra Modi's presence in the Rajya Sabha. Here are the day's highlights:

• External affairs minister S Jaishankar replied to the debate on Operation Sindoor in Rajya Sabha, clarifying that there was no phone call between PM Modi and US President Donald Trump between April 22 and June 16. He also said that with the Pahalgam attack, a red line was crossed by the terrorists.
• Leader of the House and BJP chief JP Nadda, in his speech, lambasted the Opposition and held it responsible for not taking any action against terrorism during the former UPA government. He listed the number of major terror attacks that took place between 2004 and 2014.
• The beginning of Home minister Amit Shah's reply on the debate on Operation Sindoor in Rajya Sabha witnessed heavy chaos as sloganeering from the Opposition disrupted him from speaking.
• Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge stood up and argued from his bench's side that they had demanded the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the House to reply to the debate. However, Amit Shah responded, saying he would answer all their questions, so why should the PM be called?
• Soon after, the Opposition staged a walkout over the absence of PM Modi as Home minister Amit Shah went ahead with his reply in the House.
• In his speech, Amit Shah revealed that the three Pahalgam terrorists killed under Operation Mahadev were all shot in the head. He promised that Jammu and Kashmir will be free of terrorism.
• Amit Shah also slammed the Opposition and taunted that the previous regime kept sending dossiers after terror attacks and took no action against Pakistan. But today, he said, PM Modi's government gives a stern response to any such acts.
• Amit Shah accused the Congress of being responsible for the spread of terrorism in the country. He said that their only priority is appeasement and vote bank, not ending terrorism.
